Ransater 31 July

A slow start, showers breakfast sitting around in the sun, I think we got moving about 1pm. First stop was Skutberget , if you look at the photo of google maps you will see a rather oddly named football field.. Skutberget was lovely a beach and park on the lake side with lots of big rocks.  There was a camp there but one of the  big ones with 100 caravans and motorhomes so not for us. We had our lunch there and then for a walk about, we saw volleyball, frisbee golf, dog obedience and two buses of chinese tourists. After P played on the motorway going back the way we came by mistake we got to our camp at about 6.30.. We never book just arrive and hope. At this one there is masses of space only 2 vans and a caravan in a big field. view from the camp  I've already had a  shower and washed my hair. The owners are from the Netherlands so we had a long chat to them about travel and what we can do in the area. I am hoping to see a ...

Amal 30th July

Finally left the camp as did everyone else as it started raining in the night and no one likes camping in the rain. I heard thumps in the night and thought it was pine cones ( little ones as I couldn't see any on the ground) it wasn't until tonight that I found a really large caterpillar on the ceiling vent, I think they were being blown out of the tree and dropping on the van. The one one I found has now travelled 100km without having to crawl. We spent 2 and a half hours wandering around a huge shopping centre while P had a new back wheel put on his bike and we did manage to buy a protective bike cover to keep the rain and dust of the two bikes on the back. At our afternoon tea stop we came across people sleeping in hammocks slung between the trees. Quite noisy by the road but there was also a man sleeping in their car so it was quite crowded. The car was from Albania so I guess they had been travelling a while to be sleeping at 3 in the afternoon. They have an un...

Trollhatten Day 2 creating a river

We decided to stay in the camp ( the unlimited hot showers were a draw and it is so nice amongst the trees) We headed off to see the dam sluice gates open with a slight delay as P swore at his bike and tried to fix a twisted wheel. We got a great spot on the bridge and at 3 pm they let the first gate open followed by the other 3 with them arriving into the bottom of the gorge at the same time and then the mass of water heading under the bridge and into the river. It lasts 8 minutes and they do it just for tourists and it was well worth staying for it was great. I will add a video but if you can't open it there is a stream of photos as well. link to video in album   We then a did a guided tour of the intake and turbine houses . We then biked to the canal locks and were lucky to arrive when a large boat was about to go through. it started really low in the lock then it rose up till it was above us, the lock is so man...

Trollhattan 28 July

Well it was finally time to leave the beach it had been a lovely place to stay and swim and laze about. We decided against Gothenburg as there were lots of reports of motorhome break ins at the camps there. So instead we headed inland and it was so different to Denmark. There are masses of massive rocks, hills , lakes and lots of trees. It just confirmed how flat Denmark is. We stopped at a ruined castle and checked out the great view they must have had although three castles/ Schoss had been built there and all burnt down. We had lunch by a lake then headed to Trollhattan, the first camp we tried was full so we moved on. This one had space and is great it is  very disorderly due to the huge rocks every where, basically you find a site but within the trees and not on the rocks and move in. Had a very long walk to the hydrodam that we will visit tomorrow , apparently at 3pm they let the water go and 300000 ft of water flow per second, quite a sight apparently, so photos...

Karradul Sweden 26 July and 27th July

Up and I had collected our fresh buns by 8.30 ( a man comes round and asks for your order the night before then sits in a caravan and waits for you to collect them). It was one of the busiest camps we have stayed in that isnt a full blown holiday camp they are enormous,  so I was glad we were in a quiet corner . We headed into the town and visited a citadel which had a helicopter in the grounds giving rides ( short and costly) The whole town was having a festival with activities for the kids in the parks including an obstacle course through the trees and over hurdles etc. And blow up fun on the  beach.  There was a fair with rides and food stalls in the town  ( and this odd statue) then headed on our way. And a happy sunbather in the park. There was a lack of choice when it came to the road going north and we had to take a major motor way. P cunningly sits behind a truck so they think that is the hold up as poo...
