Trollhatten Day 2 creating a river

We decided to stay in the camp ( the unlimited hot showers were a draw and it is so nice amongst the trees)

We headed off to see the dam sluice gates open with a slight delay as P swore at his bike and tried to fix a twisted wheel.

We got a great spot on the bridge and at 3 pm they let the first gate open followed by the other 3 with them arriving into the bottom of the gorge at the same time and then the mass of water heading under the bridge and into the river.

It lasts 8 minutes and they do it just for tourists and it was well worth staying for it was great.

I will add a video but if you can't open it there is a stream of photos as well.

We then a did a guided tour of the intake and turbine houses .

We then biked to the canal locks and were lucky to arrive when a large boat was about to go through.
it started really low in the lock

then it rose up till it was above us, the lock is so manarrow I could touch the boat
the captain never touched the side quite impressive.

It went up the lock and the them we chased it through town stopping to watch as each bridge was raised/ opened . Culminating at the rail bridge which the middle section was raised 27 ft.

a happy P after a day of engineering

lots more photos
