Saint Jean pied du Port
Well you may have noticed that the blogs are poorly formatted this is because my laptop has died and I’m trying to right it on an iPad. The pictures disappear before I can label them or include them in the text. Very annoying.
Anyway we spent the night in Saint Jean Pied du Port in France at the foot hills of the Pyrenees a narrow street stone houses sort of place. The first obvious thing when we were leaving early the next day was the number of pilgrims here, I didn’t expect so many in May. They all had backpacks and walking sticks and resolutely set out. Lots had day packs so I think they have their real baggage taken from hostel to hostel. This town had lots of places offering beds and food to pilgrims (not free).
During the trip over the mountains we would see them on forest tracks along side the road.
It was an easier trip than I expected and very pretty , lots of trees and waterfalls. Also a few hair pin turns...
