The long walk, Sept 14th

Well today we decided to stay at the same camp and  we walked for about 5 hours, up and down the Curzon peninsular in heats that reached 31 deg.

The walk was sheltered a lot of the way so it got very hot. There were lots of downs and then the long haul back up.  For all that is was a lovely day out and we saw French forts, German concrete and cliffs.

a lot of the walk has been around a long time and is part of route 34 the coastal walk for France so the paths are well worn and in hedgerow gullies
unusual graffiti change from names and tags

keep on walking its only 31 deg

some classy engineering

A fort

lovely coloured heather and steep cliffs for the second half of the walk

After we finally got back I wanted to go for a swim so we struggled back down to the beach only to have the clouds come out and the day cool off.  On the up side P got to see the French army and police who were at the port beach as well , we don't know why they just seemed to be hanging about with the big guns.
Then another walk back up the hill and  some very welcome showers ( not push button just as much hot as you want  fantastic )
