We started the day with a walk to an old paper mill, the history was really good with lots of plaques and the info office gave us an English brochure. They used to make paper out of old clothes collected by the rag and bone man. Women would remove the buttons and pull them apart then the cloth got bleached pulped and turned into blotting paper. They moved on to imported Swedish wood pulp but finally failed in 1965.
We then headed to the valley of the saints which old was on a high hill. There were three carvers working and about 100 saints done, they plan to carve a thousand.
I was amazed how many there were and how big.

What intriguing saints. I thought it wouldn't be so interesting. For competition purposes: Their names are Jacqueline, Birdie, Modern Millie,... enough already.
