Rouen : 19 July

We had an easy drive through the country to Rouen were we are staying in a marina. They have excellent showers which we enjoyed after not having had one since the UK.

We walked into the center of Rouen along the Seine and visited the cathedral. It has an amazing rose shaped stained glass window and is massive inside.

Some amazing statues and a carved staircase.

We then walked through the narrow streets

Saw the most amazing hanging basket it went up and down about 1 mtr each way.

and found a cafe by the Jean d'Arc church for a drink and sat for a while.
The church is amazing they placed the stained glass from a destroyed church, it has lots of point roofs and looks like a crocodile from outside then when you go in because you walk down it is quite imposing and large.

The church of Jean D'Arc, the cross on the right is where she was excuted.

candles are added to a metal tree, maybe not ideal when she was burned at the stake ( over and over again so that there would be no relics and then the ashes thrown in the river ). but very pretty.

stained glass from an old church rehung in new windows
