Rocks, moose and bikes

Today we awoke to sunshine and a visit to a meteorite museum... it was shut. But they had a rockwall with lots of samples of... you guessed it rock.

We spent the day driving stopping for tea breaks and reading in the sun until we got to the Jarvzoo car park where we planned to spend the night visiting the zoo in the morning.

It is associated with a hotel, ski resort and mountain biking trails.

We wandered over and found a very nice restaurant with a sun terrace so we bought a couple of drinks and sat watching the little kids learn to mountain bike.

They had a moving travelator to take them and their bikes to the top of the small slope then they rode down.

This morning we were at the zoo when it opened at 10am , easy when you sleep in their car park, and headed in.
It is a hill area with wooden walkways no concrete anywhere.

Half way up they had a picnic area where they provided an indoor seating area with bbq pit and an outdoor area with fire as well. In case you carried your fresh caught bunny with you...





Then we went to the mt biking hotel and had a buffet lunch, lost of choices, all you eat and only £12, amazing value. We had that so no dinner needed tonight.
Sat in the sun ate, drank, read and watched the kids on the kiddy slope.
Then we noticed the ski lifts operating with the bikers using them to get to the top of the trails so we asked if we could and for a £5 each we went to the top took pictures and then came back down. We didn't need to queue as we didn't have bikes , we just in the middle of the 6 wide seat.








Then back down and we went to the red bull pump bike world championships , we got to see up to age 14 or so. Tomorrow is the grown ups so we will look at them before we leave town.

The pace is so busy with bikers, but then it is the weekend. The couple we shared the ski lift with came from south of Stockholm and said they can get up to 25 runs a day with the ski lift getting them up. By the time we got out photos they had been down and come back up again.

Bazouges-la-Perouse,18th August

  In NZ it is the 19th August so happy birthday dad. We cycled to Mont st Michel this morning but the tide was still out so didnt take any more photos. 10km cycle ride later we filled the van with water and headed away.  We are now in Bouzouges in a really nice spot with plants all around and only 3 of us here. We went for a walk about the town classes as a Petite ville de France  which I guess means its a cute little village , and it is. We went to the information centre and a really helpful chap gave us guides for Brittany ( where are there now ) and a walking tour of the town. Which we did.   amazing amount of public planting  a rather nice painting putting all the oldest houses in the same street, there are tomatoes and aubergines growing in the garden rather odd things hanging on the side of the church quite an arty town the tour book said these are death masks of men executed in the town an interesting use of old drink bottles, each one has a plant in...

Back on the road

Hi all We are now ready to move. we had planned to settle here and buy a house but have now decided to retire in NZ in a couple of year but before then to do a lot more travel. On our last trip our car blew a head gasket on the autostrada in Italy and we had to scrap it over there, we have had no vehicle for 10 months but really haven't missed it. we commute on the train to work. and take a taxi home from the station if it rains. We have looked at a car staying in hotels, or using our tent or buying a campervan or a motorhome. We looked at every option and went to two camper/motorhome shows. what we  found was that P is too tall to see out the windscreen and too long for the beds...... Until we came across the Hymer, the bed is always made up and drops down from above the drivers seats and the view from the windscreen is panoramic.
