Egersand 12 August
Sunshine first thing and a lovely beach but too cold to swim. It was very shallow you have had to walk out or ages to get over your knees.
We headed along the coast and went through some astounding scenery. Huge rock formations made from magma. Huge smooth mountains.
| nice view from that house |

We headed along the coast and went through some astounding scenery. Huge rock formations made from magma. Huge smooth mountains.
There was a lot of water rushing about from the rain that fell over the last few day in the mountains. I think a lot of these streams run high all the time.
We stopped to visit two houses under a huge rock overhang, there had been people living there since the stone age.
There were 3 families totalling 15 people living there at is peak.
There was also a troll cave.
There were tramping tracks all though the rocks but they involved a lot of climbing. One started with 334 steps up the side of an old cog railway. They still mine titanium here.
| rocks balanced way up high |
Oddly there was a camera high up on the cliff I think it must be watching a eagle nest.
We drove to the top of the pass and there was a view point a bus of tourists
and surprisingly a monument to some New Zealand flyers who had been killed in a raid to bomb a german boat during the war.
The road had a lot of bends and tunnels and was a bit hair raising at time.
