Briksdalsbreen Glacier 18 August
We passed through some glorious fjords, crossing over Sognefjorden on a ferry to the other side.
This fjord has cruise boats from Bergen come up it each day.
We stopped for lunch on the side of one of the fjords and there was a sign letting us know that we could drink the water.
and the house we stopped by had some lovely apple trees, the street stalls are selling big purple plums with yellow flesh and they are so nice to eat.
Once we got off the main road there were sheep all over the place standing in the middle of the road and not at all worried about cars or trucks.
Once we got into the fjord there were so many waterfalls and glaciers it was quite amazing.
Every corner there was another one.
We drove to the very end of the fjord and into the camp that one blogger called the best on earth..... it is certainly in an amazing situation, at the bottom of two glaciers, at the end of the fjord and surrounded by high mountains and waterfalls.
the view from reggie
and behind a waterfall, i wonder if they could turn the noise down at bed time.
As it was only 6pm we decided to go see the glacier, P was convinced it must be miles away but I chose the camp because you get really close in 45 minutes walk.
It was rushing water, high cliffs, and lots of glacier simply amazing.
got soaked in seconds
A very short video to give you an idea of what if is like up close
it is this close
a man was filling a bottle and gave us a drink it tasted of cold water... no additives.
the sun even came out, it was quite a warm breeze so not unpleasant at all.
a day of scenery and even more photos.
and as it is the 19th August in New Zealand
Happy 90th birthday Dad
