Delft June 11th
Awoke to sunshine so we did what all good campers do and we did a clothes wash.
Once that was on the line we got the bikes and headed into Delft. A really easy trip as all the street are either bike/ pedestrian only or they have a bike lane. Past the yeast and methylated spirit factory
which has been there since 1869 and you can smell the yeast as you bike past.
We went to the museum prinsenhof delft which was the home where William the Silent ( a king of the Netherlands) was shot. They had very clever shadow people illuminated on the walls showing the assassination. All the narration and signage was in English and Dutch so it was easy to understand.
They also had interactive displays where you design your own delft pottery.
( and this photo was the one I made )
In a separate exhibition they had displays about a Delft company that creates the stages for large music events eg Madonna, Queen etc. It was amazing to watch a time lapse of a football stadium changing into the setting for a UB40 show and back to football.
They had virtual reality headsets so you could walk around the back stage area and on the stage.
After a couple of hours there we decided to have lunch not realising it was already 4 o-clock.
We found an italian deli and had a late lunch early dinner sitting outside in the sun.
(Note in the poster they have added the coffee brand by having her pour into a coffee cup)
Then after more wandering/ biking we headed back to camp and sat in the sun reading.
Tomorrow we will move on to Gouda and hopefully get a place in the local motorhome park. ( apparently it is very popular ) if we can we will go to the cheese market on Thursday.
