Medinaceli ,Zaragoza

Headed out of Madrid to a random stop which turned out to be on top of a plateau. It was a great stop and old roman settlement that was still lived in . Lots of original features and the whole village built in the same brown stone. Had a really good sleep as there was a cool breeze and no traffic at all, not even a dog barking.

Hardly a person here , only saw tourists and the bar staff.

The next day we visited the town properly walking up and down the streets, went to an old palace which had a contemporary art exhibition. The town had an erotic display as well but we didn’t pay the €5 extra for that.

Wandered into a church  which was attached to a nunnery and there was a grill across the church floor to ceiling and the nuns in full black habits were on the other side. They had a window where they sold biscuits.

We drove off to Zaragoza though amazing gorges and bad lands , red soil , white soil, lots of geology really interesting.

Zaragoza

Got a park in the official Aire which quickly filled up ( tonight’s our second night there are 50 in the official park and another bunch in the car. Park  next door.
Anyway in the morning we headed into town on the tram, another town.

Started with an Islamic  palace with lots of carvings and glorious ceilings.
Then onto a Cathedral , four towers, lots of gold, statues, and vaults letting the light in.
After lunch we went up one of the towers , fortunately we didn’t have walk to the top they had put in a lift.
Really good view out over city.
