Gorafe , Gaudix and Emlasse negratine
We visited a town where most of the population live in cave houses, it is always 19deg so good for scorching summer and snowy winters. we got to look inside two of them not a lot in the way of windows as you would expect.
The area is also home to large numbers of prehistoric dolmens so we went looking for them up hill and down dale.
Had a bit of a hiccup here as I lost a filling, on a Friday night. I did a google search and the town we came from had dentists open on Saturday , so first thing we headed back. P went to the big market and trawled the streets looking for dentists, mostly on the first floor behind locked entry doors but I pushed the buzzer and no reply at the first two, next one had the blinds down. Last one I pushed the buzzer and the door opened , the receptionist said all full up when I showed her my translation that I needed a replacement . No no no then after my sad face she said she would ask the dentist who said they would fit me in!
She saw one patient told the next one to come back next week then did mine. I got anaesthetic, and a replacement filling took about 35 mins. I was expecting a horrible bill and it was only €60.. cheaper than home. She was worried the root might be infected so I am living in fear of needing antibiotics as that will mean finding a Dr as well.
Anyway that afternoon we had a nice break at an area that had a water race that had been started in prehistory and was now 15 feet tall built up by calcium deposits in the water . it was also home to hot springs that were harnessed into a resort where we spent the afternoon swimming, it was bliss.
Then driving through the countryside where they filmed Indiana Jones and lots of cowboy movies, more olives, a lot of dried up river beds and some very high hills to drive up. Also marble quarries and little white mountain villages.
We spent the night at a hydro dam thinking it would be super quite but turns out the road was quite popular!
Tonight we are in Carboneras in a site that has its own pool which was welcome after a hot day.
