Saint Marie du Mont 9 August

We went to a garage sale in the middle of town this morning about 50 stalls .
A lot of stuff no one could possibly want not at any price. Lots of children’s toys and Barbies
one of these three things I did buy

inlaid wooden box
a very elegant couple in bathrobes

the worlds ugliest cat
Then we headed off to look at a bridge  P was so happy he does love a bailey bridge, we have the measurements if anyone would like to make one.
Reggie on a bailey bridge
and P measuring
Lunch was in the marina park at Carentan and a walk around the town, it was Sunday afternoon and a ghost town, they did have a nice viking boat though the tiller is below.

Then we went to a museum that had an old DC3 that you could sit in and they made it move up and down while they played movies through the window to give us a simulation of flying over to d day, sadly we crash landed in France. After that we watched a 3d movie, P with his 3D glasses headphones and masks ( covid means we have plenty of space  there was no one in the row in front of us, lots of room now the covid regulations allow less people in and all social distancing.

We are now in Saint Marie du Mont a lovely village where they have plaques on the houses telling you stories about the soldiers that hid there or fought there, just little anecdotes taken from eye witness accounts or diaries.
a grand selection of things to buy
A quite ornate steeple I've seen nothing like it here before, most are plain norman square church towers.
Not sure who this saint is with her head in her hands.

the cat sticker below is on the side of the motorhome beside us tonight.  we are in a sports centre field  lots of grass an only 5 of us.

  1. Did you buy the wee man or the wee woman? (I know it must have been one of them, there's no way you'd buy that broach instead!
Love the cat sticker, definitely want one for Len's car.
