Stayed at a camp over night in St Mere Eglise, did the laundry , always exciting, that and showering.
Walked into the town which is famous for a paratrooper attack to support DDay. one poor chap got caught on the church steeple ( Ps blog has all the details.) The one in the picture is not the real man he'd over 100 now and sick of hanging around.
We did a walk around the town , had lunch then P went to a museum and I finished another book ( managing 1 novel every 2 days )
Today we headed off into the countryside for a couple for invasion visits including the airship hangar then stopped at Valonges for lunch,
The centre of town was flat and boring but it had a really interesting old town.

dirigible hanger that P had a look through, only took and hour and a half.....

we plan to try the brioche tomorrow. we played boule tonight as there is a boule court next to the van stop and a lovely picnic spot, lots of locals were playing and then when all but 4 had gone we had a go ( and yes I did win... not that I am at all competitive ).
the ton has a big chateau but only part of it has been renovated, I wonder if it is on Uk couple doing up a chateau, ( covid wont have helped any of those keen types as I'm sure bookings will be way down )
 |
the gardens of the chateau are listed and this is the part we can see, there ate 3. the one below this one and another somewhere.

the white windows are new but the ones in the right wing are broken, looks like it will eat money. The two gate houses are done I could see new curtains in them so I guess they will be gites.
