Crecy 2.8: Farvaches 3/8: Longues Sur Mer 4/8

It has been a busy three days we did more following of the invasion from D-Day advance through the french countryside. stopped at Mt Ormel museum which had really good audio visual presentation of how the attacks all went day by day.  The view of the corridor of death shown below is where the allies squashed the germans into a smaller and smaller space with only one way out.

we stayed the night in a real camp in Clecy and made friends with our neighbours two men from the UK.  They had a new tent which they had no idea how to put up which was amusing to watch.
It was a really nice camp along the banks of a river with all sorts of water sports and restaurants.
The camp at Clecy
We walked along the river to the viaduct then climbed up to it and then back to the camp along the bike path that has been built on the old railway line.

After dinner we met the two guys again and sat and chatted until the small hours, it was nice to chat in english.  The next morning the one of them had a puncture in his airbed so we lent him our bike puncture repair kit which fixed the hole but when he reinflated the bed he got a bit carried away and exploded it....Im not sure where he will be able to get another one it is a quite an out of the way camp.

We traveled through the countryside and stopped for the night at Fervaches and were the only ones there for most of the day, overnight only 4 of us. We just sat in the sun and read, P had more on line chats with vodafone over our internet not going they tried to say we had to go back to the UK to renew it.... that didnt go down well.

Breakfast time in the sun

Today we drove to St Lo and pottered about the centre of town and climbed the ramparts then headed to the sea side.

the car park was really busy early on but now there is just the four motorhomes.  Over on the cliff are another 20 or so but we decided to stay here on the edge of the park as no one is beside us and we have a nice country view.

We went for a long bike ride before dinner and watched paragliders jumping off the cliff.

down the bottom are people collecting mussels at low tide

Then after dinner walked along the cliffs the other way , 9.8 km walked and some cycling so a good day for exercise.

Found this rather lovely outfit  let me know who would like one bought back, just send me a comment.

an apple tart for Len to make

  1. Please may I have one of those lovely hats? (The model would look more convincing if she removed her glasses.)
Len's pear tarte tatin is, he says, an exemplar, which I believe looks even more delicious than your tarte normande.
