Dieppe, France: we have arrived

Good bye the UK ( you need to click on the blog to get the whole thing )

the farewell view of the UK

the white cliffs but not Dover

The easiest ferry crossing ever the sea was flat and the sun shone.  They only carry half the passengers so it was easy to get a seat by the window.

We arrived and drove 500 mts to the overnight stop and will explore Dieppe from here.

P spent two hours trying to get the wifi in the van working and muttering about vodafone, finally we have it all working. We then walked into and around the town and up to the castle. ( 9.9km walked today). Dieppe is a lovely old port with a pedestrian street through the middle for cafes and shops.

We visited the church and the memorial to the Dieppe raid  in WW2 with a lot of Canadian deaths and no gain.

After a coffee and cake we left Dieppe and drove to our camp for tonight. Veule-Les-Roses. we are in a large field at the top of the white cliffs  fortunately behind a hedge to keep off the sea breeze.

We walked down to the beach and explored the town then stopped of at a beach bistro for wine ( a really nice rose for me and a beer for him) rather then cook P had a giant burger and I had crepes for dinner.

somewhere Shirley will feel at home

It seems an out of the way place but there are 38 motorhome ( camping cars they call then in France ) all French but us .
