Emsburen 13.9 Steenderen 14.9
Started the day in a field so quiet that we just sat n the sun for 3 hours reading. It did have an interesting neighbour over the other side of the canal.
A nuclear plant cooling tower.
Finally we headed off and today we crossed into the Netherlands. We had all sorts of road issues today, narrow streets, a car hitting the bikes when we were parked at a supermarket ( no damage to either them or us ) , closed roads, cobbled roads, narrow roads with rumble strips.
Still it was gloriously sunny and we enjoyed the drive ( only 2 hours that seems to be the most we do with a 2 hour lunch break in the middle).
It was very obvious that we had arrived in Holland as there are so many people cycling.
Our first camp was full ( first time we have turned away ) but they had some cheeky chickens that popped into the van while we were using the loos.
I was tempted to keep one as a pet but budgie poo is enough I cant image the mess a chicken would make.
They were not scared at all and must make a habit of it.
We then headed to the next camp and had issues with closed roads, they had streamers up and lots of people in the main street and turns out it was their towns fiesta.
We found the camp it is really nice tucked down behind the streets on the edge of the countryside with lots of red currents which I will collect some of tomorrow for breakfast.
After dinner we headed into the town and listened to the two bands they had at the two pubs, watched the people, one man grabbed P and spun him round and round.....
The amount of rubbish was terrible all those plastic cups, someone will have a big job tomorrow.
Good fun though lots of happy people, one pub the over 40s and the other the unders.
