Nijmegen and Arnhem 17/9, Kranenburg 18/9

We managed to get on a tour of both the above cities, the council had subsidised tours for the 75th anniversary of the liberation in WW2. There are re-enactors with US trucks tents and uniforms in town as well.

There will be concerts and events for the next week.

We enjoyed the tour, the first part P and I had our own guide who spoke english for us. Then we had a bus tours all in Dutch which was harder ( P did some narration from the internet). Then we had lunch included which was filled rolls and drinks. The afternoon was in Arnhem and another tour and one of the other people on the tour translated for us.

memorial, swing from a school where the nun and children died

always a good idea

every day a veteran walks across the bridge and as they walk the 48 lights come on as they pass them
you can join the walk with the vetran, the 48 represents the 48 US soldiers that were killed crossing the river in rubber boats 75 years ago.

the gray power tour...

a school outing might recommend it for the Trust primaries

an odd memorial

they redid the curch recently and the architect used disney characters as the new statues hard to tell from this side caused a huge fuss

3d chalk drawing

where prince Charles stays when he visits, the mayors house

look closely there is a glass platform near the top, a lift takes you up and you step out into air...

We are now back in Germany ( just over the border) ready to watch the 1000 parachute drop tomorrow in the fields nearby.

And amazing it was , 5 hercules planes dropped 10 at a time then went round and did another ten, 300 for each mass drop.
