Leiden, Hoek of Holland and the ferry back to the UK 20/9

We headed out of the Fort and headed to see P's editor. We started the trip visiting them in Utrecht and finished visiting them, they are the bookends of our time away.

We then headed to Leiden and used the park and ride, very efficient they had 10 or so vans and just  drive to town as often as anyone wanted a ride and for free.

They dropped us in the middle of town and what a lovely town it was.  We walked about stopping for beer/wine on the canal side then found a really popular restaurant and had one of the best pizzas I've had in years.
nice stop for a wine

We thought we should eat out as we ran out of gas and cant guarantee that we can plug in tonight.

And I was right we ended up in a carpark set up for motorhomes with 8 others. We had tried two other places both really small and for the first time on the trip didnt get a place.
So we are actually at the port that we leave from so the morning will be easy.

The park was beside a beach and as we had time we wandered over and enjoyed the sunshine.

two groups of woman learning to surf... not much in the way of waves.

Then it was time for the ferry.....  no trouble getting on board and we got a great seat in the viewing lounge in the middle at the front. The sun was shining and the sea was flat and hardly anyone on board... perfect.

P with a bit of a beard, laptop, biscuits, apple, kindle quite comfy really
There was a call over the intercom for our number plate and P had to run down and turn the inside lights off, they were worried we had left them on for a pet..

The we saw the UK at sunset and knew the trip was almost over.

Off the ferry through border control ( easy before brexit) and we drove for a while but it was stressful driving in the dark on what was now the wrong side for Reggie ( who is left hand drive)

So we gave up and I found a camp.. it was down Dead End Lane , there were no lights so we drove into a huge field drove till we saw an electric stand and plugged in and spent the night.

Last day and  we drove to....... our new home for the next few months  and it is the same one we left. Yes indeed I was searching airbnb and the renting sites and found our old flat in Lichfield was empty. I contacted our old land lord and we moved back in today. No agents fees on either side , no worry about references and we know there is room for all our stuff in the garage and Reggie can live in the carpark out the back.
We have no furniture so are cooking and bathroom up stairs and watching telly and sleeping down stairs. Tomorrow ( Monday ) we will go and collect some stuff and get organised.  The good news is I don't need to change my address on my license and the bank etc.

This week getting organised and next week back to work.
We did

9995 Kilometres
and had
zero accidents
zero breakdowns

well done P for his driving on all those different roads.
.
Now to start planning next years trip.... Portugal and Spain
oh and doing the wash....
no furniture but a line of clean clothes..
